What Juneteenth Means for Black Beauty

Monday marks Juneteenth, the holiday that serves as a celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. For many, the occasion brings forth many emotions, from grief to joy and everything in between.

Team USTAWI and our founder Natacha Paugam are creating a safe and open space for our community to come together and share how they feel about the third year of a federally recognized holiday. The reality is that not everyone in America feels free or safe, and this is, unfortunately, something that many people around the world who share the same skin tone can relate to. We hope that by sharing our experiences and coming together, we can build a better and more inclusive future for all.

With the rise of A-Beauty (African Beauty), it is inspiring to see how Juneteenth has become a part of the conversation around inclusivity in industries like beauty. Natacha's vision for USTAWI speaks to the importance of creating products that cater to the diverse needs of all skin tones and types. It's great to see the beauty industry moving towards a more inclusive and representative space.

Whatever Juneteenth means to you, we hope you have the space to observe and make the holiday a good one.
